. s w i f t l y .

I decided to make Swiftly readily available to the public on youtube and Vimeo so I figured I should update this while I find some friends to help me set up a proper website.
Swiftly is a short animated film I directed and animated last year for Shane Koyczan's show "We Were Here". That show was an amazing collaboration between Shane and Jordan Nobles, I was flattered to have been invited into the equation along with Video artist Jennifer Sommerstein and Illustrator Skyler Punnet. Anyhow, Swiftly was done in two weeks under a very tight deadline - and I mean that literally.. I was close to dying at the end between working with school and this at the same time - but it came out nicely and I was happy with the end result. I did it all in photoshop with my 6 year old graphire tablet and the magic of video layers. Most of the rotoscoped footage was filmed here in my apartment with my sony cybershot point-and-shoot camera. All very high-tech. Here's an example of a shot:

Swiftly, and the show in general, was very well received on at The Cultch. After getting such good response from the audience, I decided to give it a try at some Animation Festivals, and was rather surprised when it got selected for the Canadian Showcase at the OIAF 2009. I would need a whole other blog if I was to get into details about my experience at the festival. However, I really was fortunate to meet some amazing people over there like Bastien Dubois, Jon Klassen, David O'Reilly and Don Hertzfeldt . Quite the surreal experience.
Anyway, here's what got me there..

also, don't forget to check out Skyler's work!
